Brandon Van Bergen


An avid sportsman since school, Brandon Van Bergen has always been passionate about sport and fitness. Now with over 15 years of experience in the industry, he’s eager to share his wealth of knowledge to help others succeed in their fitness journey. Brandon has a BCom in Financial Management, is a qualified spin instructor and is currently studying towards a Personal Training Diploma through Trifocus.

Cheyna Cavanagh


From the start of her working career, Cheyna Cavanagh has always loved working with people. For Cheyna, the Lifestyle Gym is the coming together of many passions, combining her love of people, desire to help others and passion for fitness and nutrition all under one roof. She’s likely to be the first friendly face you see as you walk in the door, and will soon become your biggest cheerleader.

Christopher De Mendonca


Christopher De Mendonca is a Prescriptive Correction Exercise Practitioner with a passion for health and wellbeing. Chris draws on his extensive tertiary education and advanced knowledge of sports science, human kinetics and ergonomics to help clients effectively improve their health and wellbeing. Using a holistic approach to exercise prescription and injury rehabilitation, Chris designs tailored exercise programs for clients who require more specialised, expert rehabilitation.

Chad Botha


Having loved all sports during school, Chad Botha decided to use his passion for fitness as a means of helping others on their journey to wellness. Chad has obtained a BCOM Management Marketing degree, a Higher Certificate in Business Principles as well as Higher Certifications in Personal Training, Group Exercise and Life Coaching. With numerous qualifications and extensive experience in the fitness industry, Chad has been able to serve the people in the community. His approach is about getting active, eating well and finding sustainable lifestyle changes. 

Clinton Adonis


Leading an incredibly active lifestyle, Clinton Adonis figured that personal training was the natural next step. He has obtained qualifications as a Personal Trainer, Group Class Instructor and in Functional Fitness. Clinton has always been interested in athletic pursuits. His love of sports and all things outdoors has culminated in a lifelong passion for fitness. He hopes to help individuals achieve their fitness goals and to emphasise the joys of a holistic approach to wellness. 

Thandeka Ngonyama


As much as the Lifestyle Gym is about strength and mobility; we believe wholeheartedly in a holistic approach to wellness. This starts with nutritious foods that can help to fuel the body for everyday success. Thandeka Ngonyama is responsible for all the sustenance that comes out of the Lifestyle Cafe. Smoothies, coffees, toasties and more: Thandeka is the master.


When a corporate guy fell in love with a people-loving girl, everything changed. Living and working in Pretoria, Lifestyle Gym owners, Brandon and Cheyna, realised they spent too much time apart, doing jobs they didn’t enjoy, and in a place they didn’t love. 

With time too short to wish away, they decided a lifestyle change was needed. They left the comfort of corporate, moved to KZN and began brainstorming business ideas that aligned with their interests and passions. It was then that Brandon and Cheyna had an “aha” moment – they are both passionate about health, fitness and nutrition, and bettering the lives of others and the planet. And so Lifestyle Gym was born!

Brandon and Cheyna’s desire is that Lifestyle Gym would be a space where people of all ages and fitness levels feel welcome to train, seek advice, eat, drink, be pampered and get informed – a healthy “hangout”. 

The power couple have many ideas up their sleeves to create a “lifestyle centre” in the future – stay tuned!
